His research interests are: Critical Discourse Analysis, Language and Media, Language and Identity, Writing in Academic Settings, Language Policy and Planning and Kurdish Language and Linguistics.

Friday Salsa Dance Party (co-hosted by ISAUO)

ISAUO Mehregan Celebration and Movie Night

ISAUO is delighted to invite you for its special Mehregan Celebration – historically referred to as Iranian Festival of Autumn, which will be held on coming Saturday, October 9th, from 6pm to 9pm. In this event, we will first celebrate the Mehregan with:

  • A short poem reading;
  • A brief talk on Mehregan;
  • LIVE music;
  • Refereshments;
  • Movie Show: Nishe Zanboor (نیش زنبور);
  • A draw for two tickets to Shadmehr Aghili Concert

Information Session on Immigration to Canada

ISAUO is honored to invite you for an which will be presented by Ms. Shirin Edarechi who is an immigration consultant from Canadian Migration Institute. This session, created for all students, is designed to inform attendees of the rules and responsibilities that students should know in order to become a permanent resident in Canada. ISAUO Nowruz Dinner Ceremony

The biggest Iranian Festival of the year is just one step away…Nowruz is coming!!!

Let’s celebrate Nowruz all together as our annual tradition at ISAUO Nowruz Dinner Ceremony. In this event, we will get together around 7-Seen Table and celebrate the new Iranian year (1389), along with serving Sabzi Polo va Mahi and traditional Iranian refreshments. Here is more information:

Speech: Tribal, Ethnic and National Identities in Iran

As we are approaching the International Mother Language Day, ISAUO is honored to present a related speech By Dr. Zia Sadr. Dr. Sadr, a graduate of Paris-Sorbonne University, is a social researcher and writer with a concentration on the issue of national and ethnic identities. He has written various articles regarding this subject. The title of the speech will be “Tribal, Ethnic and National Identities in Iran“. In This speech Dr. Sadr will highlight how different cultures and ethnics have contributed to the build up of Iran through out history. The differences between ethnic and national identities which should or should not be considered in the definition of these identities will also be discussed.

Iran Day at the University of Ottawa

Currently, the International Week is being held at the University of Ottawa.
